Simple Secret for Better Blood Sugar
If you're concerned about your blood sugar, here's something you need to think about...
Don't Let Dialysis Break Your Heart
Those of you on dialysis have plenty to worry about. So it's always great when we can find ways to help you worry a little less.
I know that one of the biggest concerns when you begin dialysis treatment is the threat of cardiovascular problems. But a new study points out a way to significantly reduce that risk.
The Vitamin No Diabetic Should Be Without
I've written about diabetes plenty of times, and how it's joined at the hip with sugar, starch, and carbohydrates in general. It's easy enough to avoid diabetes just by avoiding those sweet-tasting pitfalls. But easy or not, the epidemic keeps on growing. And that means various complications from diabetes keep on growing too. Diabetes is associated with nerve damage, eye problems, and kidney damage.
You would think that getting your blood sugar under control with insulin would protect you from those illnesses, but Dr. Paul J. Thornalley from England's University of Essex explained recently that "a significant proportion of patients with tight blood glucose control still develop [kidney damage] and other complications."
ADA's Diabetes Diet - Like Pouring Gas on a Wildfire
As you age, you have a good chance of being affected by changes in blood sugar levels. Why? One in four Americans over 60 struggles with this problem [1]. But here’s something you need to know before you begin treatment.
The American Diabetes Association’s (ADA’s) recommended diet is like pouring gas on a wild fire. It’s ironic how it sets out to help people with blood sugar issues, yet it just ends up hurting them.

Go Ahead and Eat the Yolk
I often marvel at the brilliantly packaged, deliciously satisfying and nutritionally dense creation of nature with the strangest of names in almost any language (dzou in Armenian, oeuf in French and even egg – try saying that few times fast). In the last few decades, the egg, one of natures most nourishing and original whole foods (no matter which came first) has been the victim of the anti-fat and anti-cholesterol health craze based on poor theory and unjustified conclusions. Researchers are currently de-bunking the myth of the bad egg and we are slowly entering the recovery phase. It’s comeback time.
Diabetes: Even Worse than You Thought
Just when we thought we knew how bad diabetes is, we get some new information that tells us it’s even worse.
The latest data links the disease to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s, and shows how diabetes appears to help dementia take hold faster once it sets in.
High Fructose Corn Syrup - No Worse Than Sugar?
High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) contains approximately 59 percent fructose and 41 percent glucose, while fruits juices contain a ratio of 50 percent glucose to 50 percent fructose. There really is no difference. HFCS is no better and no worse than any sugared beverage or fruit juice, it is just cheaper.
Lower Blood Pressure Now, Without Drugs
Chances are you or a loved one has high blood pressure. One in five people in the United States do, which means that 50 million people are faced with the possibility of a lifetime of drugs and their side effects. But high blood pressure (hypertension) can be beaten. Even if drugs can't be avoided entirely, by taking the right natural measures we can use substantially less.
Fructose More Likely than Glucose to Cause Diabetes
Sugared drinks are fattening because the human brain does not recognize liquid sugar as calories to make you eat less food. We get our sugar in drinks in three forms: glucose, fructose and sucrose (glucose and fructose bound together in a single molecule).
Now a report from the University of California Davis shows that taking in too much fructose increases your risk for diabetes and heart attacks (Journal of Clinical Investigation, May 2009).
The Many Wonders of Apple Cider Vinegar
On the advice of my eco beauty expert friend, I recently started using raw apple cider vinegar (ACV) as a rinse to keep my hair clean, shiny, and soft. To my surprise, it really does work and honestly does not smell, as long as you rinse very well.
