Digestive Disorders Linked To Low Healthy Stomach Acid
Acid-related problems such as heartburn, acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers and esophageal cancer all stem from imbalances in the lining of the esophagus, stomach and intestinal tract.
These conditions vary but do have some things in common… somewhere the normal digestive functions went awry. Emotional stress… too much of the fat-laden, high-calorie American diet… genetic predisposition… and other unhealthy lifestyles are much to blame for these esophageal and stomach illnesses.
Another reason may be hypochlorhydria and achlorhydria, which are two digestive conditions that result in low concentrations of hydrochloric acid (HCl) in the stomach. Without ample amounts of HCl, the breakdown of proteins is interrupted and they cannot be absorbed properly. This can lead to a vitamin and/or mineral deficiency since nutrients such as iron, zinc and B-complex vitamins including folic acid require healthy levels of HCl.
To help relieve the pains associated with low stomach acid, you should add key digestive nutrients found in supplement form. These include:
- Betaine hydrochloride
- L-glutamic acid
- Amylase
- Protease
- Lipase
- Gentian root
By aiding in the production of healthy stomach acid you’ll say goodbye to your frequent heartburn, acid indigestion, bloating, upset stomach, diarrhea and constipation.

Organic apple cider vinegar with the "mother", juice from an organic lemon, or organic unsweetened cranberry juice can also provide some immediate relief. Use of acid blockers also blocks absorption of minerals, like calcium which needs a solid acidic environment for breakdown. Osteoporosis, susceptibility of bacterial infections, and potential stomach cancer are just a few of the possible side effects of those drugs.

The subject of digestion would appear to be the foundation of ones health, regardless of the variety of enzymes mentioned. Enzymes are of course critical to proper digestion, but is it not the mix of food that determines it ? There are too many foods consumed in the typical American diet which cause the formation of acid, and not enough foods which act in their digestion as a bath for alkalinity. The proper balance of acid vs alkalinity is perhaps the most critical subject for our health. Google it and you will find a plethora of information on the subject.
