Finally Science Confirms the Key to Weight Loss
This is one of the most important posts I have written on health so I want you to carefully read this.
My site has been around for over 10 years and from day one I have been extolling the importance of insulin in nearly all chronic degenerative diseases. Well now we have a landmark study confirming that insulin is the central part of the weight-loss equation.
There are over 200 million Americans who are overweight, and collectively they are carrying around an extra 5 BILLION pounds of excess fat.
What the Boston researchers specifically found was that those who secreted high insulin levels had a far more difficult time losing weight than those who secreted low levels of insulin.
I am very grateful that these researchers produced this landmark confirmation of insulin truth. Unfortunately, they completely blew the interpretation of what they found. So let me help you sort through the researchers’ confusion.
Like most scientists they want to attribute the problem to your genes. They want you to believe that 200 million Americans are heavy because they have flawed genetics that make them hypersecrete insulin.
Folks, nothing could be further from the truth.
The reason 200 million Americans are overweight is not because of flawed genetics that cause them to make excessive insulin. Hypersecretion of insulin is an effect -- NOT the cause. The reason 200 million are overweight is because they have impaired insulin receptor sensitivity.
Impaired Insulin Receptor Sensitivity
How do your insulin receptors stop working effectively?
Very simple.
This is a natural consequence that occurs when you don’t exercise and move the way you were designed to. Your body dynamically makes this adjustment because the receptors are not being used. This is very similar to what happens if you lie in bed for a few weeks; your muscles start to atrophy. Some have called this the “use it or lose it” phenomena.
So when your insulin receptors become desensitized the only way your body can adjust is to make MORE insulin. You become an insulin hypersecretor.
Why Is This Important?
Once your body releases insulin it immediately starts to inhibit your fat-burning hormone called hormone-sensitive lipase. This hormone is responsible for releasing fat into your bloodstream to be utilized as fuel. Once this enzyme is inhibited, your body is unable to burn fat and will then begin utilizing amino acids from your muscle and carbohydrates as fuel.
This will cause you to become abnormally hungry, which further feeds this vicious cycle.
The key is to have LOW levels of insulin so your body can produce large amounts of hormone-sensitive lipase and burn fat all day so you can look thin and slim.
You might want to pick up the paper edition of Time magazine as the online version of How the World Eats only shows one of the pictures from Japan, which for the most part is really healthy food. No wonder they live over 80 years. They show a picture of a family from Chad, which is virtually no food, and then a picture of food for a typical U.S. family.
This is one of the most powerful graphic illustrations as to why the United States has an obesity epidemic. Nearly all of the U.S. food (over 90 percent) was highly processed junk food. Of course, if you shop at a grocery store you probably see this all the time. It is shocking what people are putting into their bodies.
Processed junk foods will absolutely impair your insulin receptor sensitivity.
So What Can You Do?
The bottom line is very simple here, folks. Keep your insulin levels low, very low. You can measure this with an inexpensive blood test that nearly any doctor can draw for you. Your level should be about 2 or 3. The way you lower it to these levels is by exercising, avoiding processed foods and refined carbs, and by eating the appropriate amounts of carbs for your nutritional type.
This is NOT rocket science. If you apply these simple principles you will see dramatic and remarkable improvements not only in your ability to achieve your ideal weight but also in just about every other chronic degenerative disease.
Personally, I think it is criminal malpractice that fasting insulin levels are not aggressively monitored in all cases of cancer and heart disease, because they are central to the causes of both of these diseases.
We hope to offer a weight loss coaching program later this year but in the meantime you can use krill oil and fucoTHIN to help support your weight loss efforts.

What about taking supplements of Lipase? Would this solve the problem of insulin inhibiting the lipase?
Dr. Kathleen Olsson Nelson
I agree with the premise in this article. I do eat organic foods including meats, whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables and use Xylitol when recipes require sugar. I have tried Krill oil and FucoThin, but neither has provided the benefits that are claimed by the manufacturers. I am not obese, but I do carry 30 additional pounds that are centered around my abdomen and hips. This abdominal adiposity is nearly impossible to resolve apart from having liposuction which is something I do not want to do. I have crippling Osteoporosis which limits my ability to do heavy duty workouts, although I do exercise daily.
As a diagnosed Insulin Resistent person, what can one do, truly, that can balance the insulin in this battle? I am looking for concrete advice.

I have had extensive blood testing and the results boiled down to taking 9 fish oils per day with its contents being a 2 to 1 ratio of epa and dha and taking calcium pyruvate to lose weight. I average between 1000-1200 calories per day eating mostly raw vegetables and some meat. In the last 3 weeks I have lost 12 lbs with cheating a little bit. And moderate exercise.

Will the citizen of the U.S. ever stand up, and take control of this
GREAT nation away from the CAREER politicians, and RESTORE it to the people?
PROBABLY not!

Yes, this is accurate and appreciated! The problem also lies with stress because cortisol increases insulin resistance. This is why people get an abnormal distribution of fat around the abdominal region. So in addition to diet and exercise, tools and practices for dealing with stress will also help change physiology. Although achieving your ideal weight cannot realistically be done without a healthy diet and exercise plan, there are things you can do and supplements you can take to improve all of these functions. All of this may be difficult to manage on your own so seeking professional guidance from someone may be the best course of action!

I don't know if this lady is following thru on this ..........
First, do some research on the omentum . A surgeon called Dr Oz has offered some simple information on this key zone of obesity.
(A regular on Oprah, he has written a couple of books).
Sorry, Kathleen - 30lbs centred on your middle means you are obese. You are fat. Nothing will work (except maybe, starvation and only temporarily) to help you, until you face reality. (see above)
Then go research fluoride. Best thought of as Prozac(r).
google "fluoride dangers".
A panel of genuine scientific experts recently decided at an international conference in Australia, that there is NO SAFE LEVEL of fluoride contamination. It is radiomimetic - it doesn't go away, never flushes from your system.
It is a deadly, deadly poison similar to lead.
Many people have extraordinary improvements in health simply by removing all traces of it from their lifestyle .... not easy to do.
N.B. NONE OF THE ABOVE IS TO BE CONSTRUED AS ANY FORM OF MEDICAL ADVICE AND DUE DILIGENCE IS NECESSARY AS ALWAYS.

How can one possibly avoid Fluoride? are there fluoride testing kits, for the water we buy that supposily doesnt have it in it, its on the fruits and veggies as pestisicides, not to mention they are watered with fluouride water. I would bet even organic has traces of it. Everyone I have spoken with thusfar only offers marginal information about how to avoid it in the USA, so any site or other info would be welcomed. From products, to food and wines. Thanks!

With great difficulty!
I live in Godzone in Queensland Australia, the last place holding out against this pernicious crime against humanity in the country.
Despite enormous public reaction it was "sneakily" setup.
(92% of population against it).
It is probably the greatest cause of the great collapse in human survivability in the last 40 years, without exaggeration.
It is the second most poisonous element on the planet - only lead is more poisonous.
Here is a website to visit for a good starting point, but don't do it just before going to sleep!
The only escape now would be for me to leave the idyllic spot I live in and move far out into the virtually uninhabited "bush" as we call it.
As an interim measure, I have spent several thousand on the only way I know to obtain safe water: a system that generates water by condensing it from the air.
Unfortunately, it can only deliver 60 litres per day.
As a genuine mestasised-cancer survivor, fluoride represents my most deadly threat.
As fluoride is a radiomimetic toxin and can not be removed as far we know so far, my only final escape method is to get outta town even further again and get my own water and grow my own food.
It is so deadly that you certainly should not even wash in it. Luckily, I have several beaches in close proximity and that's how I now am forced to bathe, till I organise my escape.
google "fluoride dangers" but here is a good central starting point.:
www.fluoridealert.org/
I hope people do read this. I am only sorry that as in my previous post - there are no simple fixes.
But all sorts of people have experienced amazing symptomatic relief by simply cutting out fluoride with an amazing side benefit that the mind becomes clearer within weeks.
(Fluoride is actually used as a mind-controller medically - a common brand name is Prozac(r).)

i have never heard of this before. this is such a good thing. if insulin is can do this all people will be skinny before long. i would love to hear more.

Am I getting that the only way for someone to lose 30lbs is diet and exercise? Stick to that and it should work? even if you have insulin issues? Once you stick to a healthy diet as Mercola mentioned(no processed foods, etc) This will work?
