How the USDA is killing you
Need more proof that the government's dietary guidelines will kill you? Try this one on for size: The USDA says that you can get up to 25 percent of your daily calories from added sugars such as high-fructose corn syrup.
That happens to be the same amount of sugar that has been PROVEN to put you on a collision course with heart disease.
New guidelines proven to boost heart risk
And as a recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism showed, it doesn't take long to experience these devastating effects, either. After just TWO weeks of consuming 25 percent of their daily calories from fructose or high-fructose corn syrup, volunteers who had been put onto these diets were already experiencing heart-damaging effects.
Their triglyceride levels shot through the roof, and there was a dramatic increase in LDL cholesterol.
Now, longtime readers know LDL cholesterol levels don't concern me. As far as biomarkers go, LDL is practically useless.
But there's one subclass of LDL, called apolipoprotein-B, that's more directly linked to heart-wrecking plaque -- and the patients who were given fructose and HCFS were practically swimming in it.
Here's the most stunningly ignorant part of the whole thing: The surest way to slash triglyceride levels and chase ApoB away is to skip all added sugars and stick to a diet rich in healthy animal fats and low in carbohydrates.
But stick to government guidelines, and you could actually eat MORE added sugars than animal fats and still be considered "healthy" -- because the same D.C. bureaucrats who think you can safely get a quarter of all your calories from high fructose corn syrup are also urging you to keep fats to as little as 20 percent of your diet.
Whoever came up with that formula should be taken away in a straightjacket.
Follow their advice, and you'll be taken away too -- on a stretcher or in a body bag.

I think they are getting way over stupid. I like to know what school of ignorance they get the info from.

It should be common knowledge that the gov't is not for the people. They should have banned high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils long ago, but it keeps others in business (pharmicutical, insurance co's and heathcare or should I say sick care) not to do so. This country is backwards and corrupt. It is about time we all wake up and take back charge of this country instead of letting the gov't control us. Wake up America!

It's rare that any doctor recommend "healthy animal fats". Bravo. The dietary guidelines set by the USDA and the dept. of health don't allow fat. Unless, of course, it's a tsp or two of vegetable oil. They even recommend that pregnant women get little fat. Never saw an egg or even salmon mentioned on the new plate website. And, by God, if a pregnant woman drinks whole milk, she needs to wean herself down to skim. Don't these morons understand that fats are an essential macronutrient critical to the development of the brain, nervous system, hormones, eyes, etc. Follow their recommendations and the babies we produce will stupid, sick, and fat.

Of course the unhealthier we are the more money for Big-Pharma and the FDA keeps their piggy bank in operation, what sense is to keep such in operation for instead of protecting the public is doing the opposite, they should be working for Big-Pharma and let another branch of the government take over as the defense ministry for example.
