A Menu For Sexual Vitality

Share/Save/Bookmark

Aphrodisiacs are usually thought of as herbal concoctions that supplement your diet to enhance libido and endurance. But you might be surprised to learn that some foods that you eat every day can also help you finish whatever you start...

These foods may seem run-of-the-mill, but I've personally seen results that are anything but. And there's a pretty good chance you've got all the ingredients of a truly memorable sexcapade in your kitchen. (Or anywhere the mood strikes you for that matter.)

Here's my menu for a night you'll never forget:

A little pre-gaming

As you know, I'm a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy--but celery deserves credit as a bonafide sex food. As it turns out, this unassuming vegetable contains androsterone, an important hormone that helps reinforce libido.

Try snacking on a couple of pieces throughout the day. The results may just surprise you.

The main course

This little gem (or pearl) has been touted for years as a natural aphrodisiac. But most people don't know exactly why.

Oysters are loaded with zinc, and zinc, as I've told you, is closely tied to testosterone levels. One clinical study of men 64 and older showed that six months of zinc supplements resulted in a doubling of testosterone levels. Your body's testosterone production decreases as you get older, so you have to find a way to boost it, and oysters are a tasty way of keeping you fit and ready to perform!

Zinc is also essential for vaginal lubrication. As women age, natural lubrication diminishes. Eating oysters is an easy way to increase that natural moisture.

But what to drink?

Well, a glass or two of heart-healthy wine is always good to get in the mood, but so is a less recommended beverage.

While everyone has told you to lay off the coffee because it'll stimulate you too much, maybe that's exactly what you need. Being stimulated is what sex is all about! Although you might have to take it in moderation, one cup of coffee could be just what you need to get your blood vessels dilated and blood rushing in.

Sure, a cup of coffee that late in the evening is going to keep you up. But isn't that the idea?

And now, on to dessert…

There's an old standby in the romance game that never disappoints. Cocoa beans have been revered as a way to create sexual desire and instill virility and endurance. Despite its rich history, chocolate's effect on sensuality has been treated as nothing more than unsubstantiated hype.

Whether or not mainstream medicine wants to acknowledge it, cocoa contains numerous components that produce positive moods and relieve negative feelings, including phenylalanine, an amino acid that replaces dopamine, which is a neurotransmitter associated with sexual pleasure and euphoria. Cocoa also causes your body to release beta phenylethylamine, a sexual stimulant and a mood enhancer.

Another item that happens to be a lot healthier than people give it credit for is the strawberry. This little fruit is one of the most underrated foods out there. This is especially true when you look at its credentials.

Strawberries contain a significant number of vitamins and minerals and 18 amino acids, including tryptophan and phenylalanine (mood enhancers), arginine (a precursor to the production of nitric oxide), and aspartic acid (an amino acid that helps your body use arginine in the production of nitric oxide).

Nitric oxide is a naturally occurring chemical created from arginine synthesis in the body. This amino acid is a powerhouse for two reasons:

  • 1) It relaxes the muscles in the penis and allows blood to flow more easily through the tissue
  • 2) It keeps smooth-muscle tissue flexible, resulting in improved cardiovascular health.

Besides the physical effect on your body, strawberries have another important element--color. Red is considered by most men and women to be symbolic of sex. The very image of popping a plump red berry in your mouth--or your partner's--has immense sensual appeal.

A personal favorite of mine is a combination of the two. Chocolate-dipped strawberries are a delicious way to fuse the sexual powers of these foods into one dessert that is not only delicious to eat but fun to feed to your lover. If there's only one food you should be enjoying in bed this one is pretty much it.

These are just a handful of the snacks I recommend for turning up the heat in the bedroom. Not only do they offer you all of the goodies that get you in the mood, they're just plain delicious! I encourage you to experiment a little, and see what foods out there really get your engine revving.

Dr. Douglass,
Saw your Daily Dose regarding overseas clinical trials of drugs and other therapies and wanted you to know the primary driver of this export of clinical trials is not the less cost of the trial participant but the legal environment in other nations.

When working in international insurance other nations do not permit either wrongful death actions or tort suits for bad medical outcomes. In Europe some nations have caps on the maximum payout for bad results from clinical trials and those caps are both per person and for the entire trial.

What this means to us as consumers of medical products is lowered cost of getting the drug, procedure, or device to market. Obviously, we are ignoring the FDA's delays, obfuscations, and the dollar signs in the window for the whole process.

Ultimately it should be the doctor who decides what to do for wellness not the pharmaceutical, device, or equipment manufacturer or the FDA.

Remember that Thalidamide was not approved in the USA due to lack of testing, instead it was inertia on the part of the FDA that prevented this very successful sleeping drug from going on the market here hence gaining a gold medal from President Kennedy and giving the FDA an undeserved reputation for thoroughness.

I am a 74-year-old man with all health parameters I know such as cholesterol, blood pressure ,body fat in the very good levels. I am muscular and fit however my sex binding hormone globulin is outside the reference range on the high side.

I have been told about chrysin but wonder about the various ways of bringing the level down.

I am sure other men are in a comparable situation so any information would be beneficial.

Thanks

Love Aphrodisiac

Have you heard of sea food? Well, maybe it is a great thing that you take your partner to have some sea food, it is a known fact that oysters give that like extra when it comes to a little arousal just before the big thing, and it is also a bit known that these same oysters have a great effect on man’s performance, so you know that with these kind of foods nothing could ever go wrong in bed.

Testosterone Dude

Great article!

Another food I would like to add to the list is watermelon. Watermelon does the trick by increasing erection quality. The phyto-nutrient, responsible for this action is citrulline. Citrulline works as a potent nitric oxide booster, in a similar fashion to Viagra. The highest levels of Citruline are found in the rind, so make sure you eat some of the white flesh underneath the red portion of the fruit.

Cheers!

I saw the urologist last week and its always the same old story he says I have and infection. Some times I take the anti biotic and other times I dont take it, because the infection usually goes away by itself. The doctor wants me to continue to take the antibiotic for 12 to 18 months. This is ridicious to say the least.
I want to know in terms of tests, which tests can I suggest that will help me get to the bottom of this once and for all? I am having severe burning and pain in both my testicles and penis. It hurts before I go to the bathroom and after I go to the bathroom.
I tried taking cranberry extrack but it made the pain and burning worse. Do you have any idea why this occured?
I have that herb calles uri urea. It says on the bottle that if you have kidney or digestive issues you shouldnt take it.
I have digestive issues and I was wondering whether or not should I take it?
if I do decide to take it what side effects may it cause and how should I take it? Also how long should I use it for?
What other things should I be using and not be using in terms of supplements, herbs, amino acids and any drugs as a last resort I can suggest to the doctor.

I heard a man once who had continuous pain like you've described for most of his life. As it turned out, he once had a catheter pulled out incorrectly which tore up the urethra. Every time he relieved himself, it only aggravated the lining of the urethra and inflammation therein. Don't know if this could by your problem - but thought I 'd mention. He had to have surgury for repairing the urethra - and had great relief!
